Eric Mathews — eric@mercurytechlabs.com
Eric Mathews is a devoted community member with interests in changing entrepreneurship and community engagement in the Mid-South region of the United States. He is the co-founder of Mercury Technology Labs LLC, a for-profit venture creation company and is also the co-founder of LaunchMemphis, a non-profit organization to support entrepreneurial action. Prior to these endeavors, Eric was the Associate Director of Corporate Research and Development at the FedEx Institute of Technology. There he grew research programs and lead economic development activities including growing strategic business relationships with Fortune 500 companies. Prior to these efforts, he founded and/or directed academic technology research labs that worked on healthcare technologies, sustainable building, and artificial intelligence, among others. Eric has a B.S. in Chemistry from Rhodes College, and an M.S. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Memphis. He has been quoted over 60 times in various press outlets including the Financial Times and Agence France Presse on the use and influence of technology in modern business. With a passion for supporting the emerging creative class, Eric serves on the following boards: Voices of the South, Project: Motion, and Lantana Projects (all 501c3). As an advocate for technology advancement in educational institutions, Eric also serves on the Rhodes College Leadership Council and the St. Benedict at Auburndale School Board.
Marc Diaz — marc@mercurytechlabs.com
He is the co-founder of Mercury Technology Labs LLC, a for-profit venture creation company and is also the co-founder of LaunchMemphis, a non-profit organization to support entrepreneurial action. Throughout his working experience, Marc Diaz has been intrigued with the convergence of business and technology making things simpler and more streamlined. He applied this practice to the real estate industry, founding and operating several ventures. Marc is a frequent lecturer on entrepreneurship and innovation – from speaking at national conferences to teaching university classes. In the past Marc served as the Entrepreneur in Residence at the FedEx Institute of Technology located on the campus of the University of Memphis, with primary responsibility for the business plan competition. Marc has a B.B.A., M.S. in Electronic Commerce and a J.D. all from the University of Memphis.
